Investors Day was a smashing hit! We had more visitors, a cooler lineup and greater fun than ever. Here’s all you should feel sorry about that you missed or if you were there: all you should remember!
betahaus is buzzing of excitement when the guests start arriving for Investors Day. Startups, investors and journalists from all over the world are gathering in the house to network and listen to inspiring panels, pitches and keynotes.
FUTURE MOBILITY CAMP
When Frank Wolter fromFuture Mobility Camp welcomes The Israeli Ambassador Jeremy Issacharo up on stage to open the event the room is completely packed. Throughout the day the speakers on the fourth floor stage get deep into the topics of mobility. In the end of FMC’s program we feel ready to take on the future.
In front of betahaus two shiny cars fromMercedes-Benz Berlin are preparing to take off. The Speed Dating in Cars is a curated private pitch session where startups and investors with similar focus get to connect while being driven through Berlin. The sunshine on this December day is reflected both in the cars’ black lacquer as well as on the happy faces of the people stepping out of them.
Meanwhile inside, panel after panel is enlightening the audience at the Loft Stage discussing everything from AI to sustainability. One of the most interesting conversations is held by Friederike Ernst, Arthur Röing Baer and Silvan Jongerius on Ethereum and what’s behind the new Blockchain technology.
In the evening a hushed feeling that something big is about to happen is lingering as we wait for BETAPITCH Global to start. First out on stage:Printivo!
Every startup has five minutes to pitch their idea followed by some questions from the jury. Moderator Paris Helene Furst leads us through the competition smoothly. When we’ve heard all nine pitches it’s time for the jury to deliberate. (Here are all the contestants: Meet the startups that will compete in BETAPITCH Global).
After some pizza and a great performance by Ain TheMachine the jury comes up on stage to reveal this year’s winner. The room is vibrating of suspense – who will take home the 3D printed trophy and the 5000 EUR provided by betahaus?
One by one the winning startups get their prizes and finally it’s time to name the winner. Madeleine Gummer Von Mohl calls out: “Compocket!” and the Istanbul startup, which develops pocket size smart lab devices, runs up on stage cheering. But they have no idea what’s in store for them, because of all their potential the jury has decided to giveCompocket an extra prize: a trip to Shenzhen!
Afterwards Compocket’s pitcher Ilayda Buyukdogan says excitingly: “The 5000 euro will help us a lot but it will be gone in the future so I think the connections and experiences are the grand prize! We are so thankful for the extra prize because we want to go global and the trip to Shenzen will give us new visions and help us improve our project.”.
The whole day ended with us dancing and celebrating at the Mōshen After Party. Thank you all for joining us! Hope to see you again next year.
Here are the rest of the BETAPITCH winners: VRET won a trip to Silicon Valley sponsored by Google For Entrepreneurs, Printivo won six months of coworking sponsored by betahaus and Placeme and Test My Bot both won one crate of beer from BRLO.
Big thanks to our partners for all the support: Mercedes-Benz Berlin, Israrel Export Institute, Kloeckner.i, Berlin Partner, Capital, Audi, Wired, Siemens, Beumer, Club Globals, BRLO, Workinton, Talenteco, Mōshen & Ain TheMachine.
